The Calgary Herald is fully set up to receive your electronic ads, whether you send your files via the Internet or on disc. You can send your files from either Macintosh or PC platforms. Please follow this list of procedures when transmitting your files electronically.

SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY

The Calgary Herald is equipped to receive Postscript-compatible files in the following software packages:

  • Quark Xpress (v6.5)
  • Adobe InDesign CS3
  • Adobe Illustrator CS3
  • Adobe Photoshop CS3

SPECS AND RESOLUTION

  • 24 microns Stochastic (this equates to about a 150 screen)
  • Minimum highlight dot 2%
  • Preferred resolution 300 dpi

RECOMMENDED COLOUR SPACE SETTINGS:

  • RGB (camera/monitor) should be set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1
  • CMYK should be set to U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

Required PDF Export preset: PDF/X-1a:2001

DOCUMENTS THAT ARE NOT SUPPORTED

  • NO Word processing documents (.doc, .wps)
  • NO Powerpoint (.ppt) documents as ad or graphic files
  • NO Claris Works files or MS Publisher

We have the ability to decompress files using the following software:

  • Stuffit Expander (Mac)
  • WinZip (PC)
